Hugo Kolstad (1.3.1883 i Årnes - 31.3.1959 i Ramsey County, Minnesota) var sønn av Halvor Sørensen Kjølstad (1845-) og Josefine f. Andersen (1846-).
Ingeniør Hugo Kolstad emigrerte til Amerika 6.4.1905.
Bodde i St. Paul, Minnesota og var jernbaneingeniør i Great Northern Railways fra 1907.
Gift 12.april 1912 i St Paul, Ramsey County, Minnesota med Dora Emily Domos (22.5.1892 i Minneapolis, Hennepin, Minnesota- 2.8.1973 i Ramsey, Minnesota ), datter av Thomas G. Domos (nov.1853 i Dombås -3.1.1940 i Dombås, Norge) og Carrie Endrestad (7.7.1860 i Sel, Gudbrandsdal - april 1938 i Minneapolis).

- Goodwin Kolstad (15.9.1913 - 8.6.1991 i Minneapolis),
- Roald Edgar Kolstad (3.6.1920 i St.Paul, Minnesota- 16.7.2013).

Kolstad, Roald Edgar "Ed" Age 93, passed away peacefully at "The Lodge of Burnsville" Hospice Center on July 16th, 2013. Survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Liz; his nieces and nephews; and many friends. Born June 3rd, 1920 in St. Paul, to Hugo and Dora Kolstad. Graduated from St. Paul Central H.S. in 1938. Completed two years of engineering at the U of M before entering US Naval Academy, Annapolis, graduating in 1943. Served aboard USS Chester during WWII. He then applied for Navy pilot training and became an F-8F fighter pilot, with a rank of Lieutenant USN. Returned to the U of M, graduating in 1949. Worked in the engineering dept. of 3M, retiring in 1972. Ed was an Eagle Scout. He and Liz were downhill skiers, ice skaters, roller skaters, ballroom dancers and golfers. Ed will be especially remembered for his poetry recitation, as a talented craftsman and artisan, but most of all he was a kind and gentle man. During his last years he was like a battleship that might be going down, but every flag was flying and the band playing. He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Goodwin. Burial will be held in private at Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Memorials may be sent to the State Services for the Blind.
