Olaf Bastesen

Olaf Bastesen (22.1.1892 Herøy i Nordland- 7.5.1990 i Florida, USA ) var sønn av gårdbruker Baste Bastesen (1849 i Skibåsvær, Herøy, Nordland -) og Serine Mathea Dahl Jonsdatter (24.6.1854 i Skibåsvær, Herøy- 8.2.1935, Skibåsvær, Herøy).

I 1922 utdannet Olav seg på Trondhjems tekniske mellemskole.

Olaf giftet seg 3.3.1917 i Kongsvinger Kirke med Dagny Hansen (5.12.1895 i Kristiania- 13.9. 1973 i Drøbak), datter av Anders Julius Hansen og Elida Marie Engebretsdtr.

Barn: Arne Bastesen (17.11,1917 i Kongsvinger- 22.6.1937 i Skibbåtsvær), Einar Johan Basteson (18.3.1920 i Skibbåtsvær, Herøy -23.4.1998 i Drøbak), Bjørn Sverre Basteson (20.4.1922 i Drøbak- 24.10.1994 i Oslo).

Olaf Bastesen utvandret til USA 18.6.1924 fra Trondhjem. Han ble structural designer og tegner hos the Carnegie-Illionos Steel Corporation i Gary, Illinois.

Olaf giftet seg iflg. familiære kilder tre ganger etter han kom til U.S.A med Dagny, Martha og Myrthle.

Not all of the engineers who have interest in the theology have remained within the Lutheran fold; some, in fact have strayed far away. Olaf Bastesen, structural designer and draftsman for the Carnegie-Illionos Steel Corporation at Gary, was first a member of the American Theosophical Society and for a time president of the Annie Besant lodge in Chicago. Then he joined the Liberal Chatolic church and eventylly becam absorbed in the theological studies. He accepted orders in the Liberal Catholic church and became an ordained priest. For four years he was in charge of St. Alban´s Church, and later priest in the Church of St. Francis in Chicago.
