Gustav Herman Ludvig Kragseth (25.3.1892 i Sande, Sunnmøre - 16.12.1967 i Two Harbors, Minnesota) var sønn av Gullik Elias Andersen Krakseth (4.4.1851- 1908), gift 4.7.1875 i Sande med Helene Gabrielsdatter (28.11.1854- 19).

Gustav Herman Ludvig Kragseth var sjømann i noen år før han emigrerte til Amerika 18 år gammel. Han dro til Two Harbors i Minnesota og fikk ansettelse i Duluth, Missabee and Iron Range Railroad, med unntak av 16 måneders militærtjeneste i 1. verdenskrig i Europa.

Gift med Thora Kristine Karlsen (22.5.1897 i New York - 18.april 1982 i Duluth), datter av Karl Johan Karlsen (5.10. 1868 i Nøtterø?) og Gunda Marie Danielsen (). Barn: Gertrud Helen Kragseth (17.9.1925-), Herbert Collins “Bud” Kragseth (18.1.1928- 21.3.2013).

Gustav Kragseth var aktiv i lokalpolitikken, var ti år i byens council og 8 år som borgermester der.

Gustav Kragseth var medlem av Sons of Norways lodge Terje Viken No. 17 samt District Lodge No. 1. Her var han judge i 1934-40, vice-president 1940-42 og etter dette distriktspresident. I 1944 ble han valgt til Supreme lodge trustee.

Obituary for sønnen "Bud" Kragseth;

Bud was born Jan. 18, 1928, to Gustav and Thora (Carlsen) Kragseth in Two Harbors. He was a lifelong resident of Two Harbors, graduated from high school in 1946 and served in the army. He attended Hamline University - St. Paul and University of Minnesota - Duluth. He was employed by the DM&IR Railroad for 13 years as an electrician, then worked as an electrician in construction, retiring in 1990. He was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Two Harbors, Local 242 IBEW, VFW, American Legion, Loyal Order of Moose, Sons of Norway and Vasa Lodge.

He was devoted to his family and proud of his Norwegian heritage. In retirement he reconnected with cousins in Norway while traveling throughout Scandinavia. He was honored for being a 65-year member of Sons of Norway. He enjoyed spending relaxation time at the family cabin on Bassett Lake and later his Drummond property. He was always willing to share his many talents on construction and home improvement projects for family and friends. When family events were planned, we could always count on his famous buttered popcorn. Everyone loved "Grandpa Bud"..

Bud died March 21, 2013 in Two Harbors.

He will be missed by all who knew him.

At his passing, Bud was preceded in death by his parents, wife Violet in 2004, and special friend Eila Nelson in 2010.
